Owls been missing you

We seem to have an influx of owls in the shop, stamps & die cuts. We have some gorgeous die cut owls from Hunkydory in the “Twit Twoo Just For You” luxury card collection and some new stamps from Leane Creatief, which are sooo cute. (see Pictures below)

We’ve Been Zentangled!

A colleague of mine used to create beautiful works of art doodling during our boring staff meetings (not here I hasten to add!) whilst I tend to doodle during long telephone conversations.  Turns out we’re not doodling but indulging in the art of Zentangle.  Apparently this art form can induce a sense of well being and a reduction in stress levels.  Sometimes it’s good for us to move outside our crafting comfort zone so why not give it a try in your card making, perhaps starting with two or three rows of dotted lines around your matted layers – who knows where it could lead to……….

Thursday Evening Paper crafter’s Drop-in

We had our first evening paper crafter’s drop-in of this year last night which was well attended. We had a couple of our ladies who were like George and Mildred and kept us all amused as we crafted. They are such a friendly crowd (normally :) ) if you have not been before and are interested you should come along and check it out. The shop is also open for business on these nights, if our normal Monday – Saturday  10am – 5pm hours don’t suit:  as having to work gets in the way of crafting!!!!!!!!!!

2012

Hello and very best wishes for 2012.  We are all feeling refreshed after our Christmas/New Year break and looking forward to the year ahead.  We re-opened yesterday and hope to catch up soon with old friends and make some new ones.  What’s that saying – strangers are friends we just haven’t met yet!

Our sale has now started and will continue until 13 January 2012 so please pop in and check out what’s available.  Christmas papers are reduced to 25p per A4 sheet and there’s 10% discount on Christmas stock plus other items.  For example from the craft section we have Marvy le Plume brushes, Martha Stewart blendable colour pencils and a selection of rubber stamps etc whilst from the gift range we have Yankee Candles and a selection of jewelery on offer.  Perhaps this also may be a good time to treat yourself to a Big Shot or Cuttlebug machine.

Our first drop-in of the year will be on Saturday afternoon, 7 January 2012, 1pm – 4.30pm so hope you can make it.

As ever, if there’s anything you need or help required please don’t hesitate to ask, if we don’t know we know a crafter who does!!

Happy crafting

Wear It Pink Day

A MASSIVE BIG PINK THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

To all of Southfield customers and friends. We really do feel we have to commend you all for the fantastic support and contributions you made to our  Wear It Pink fundraiser. You truly did a wonderful thing and it is very much appreciated. For any of you who have suffered Breast Cancer or have had a family member or friend who has, can tell you that your generosity will directly benefit  sufferers and their families.  The money raised during the event and a generous contribution from Southfield brought the total to a whopping £600.00. Without the fund-raising from these events, they simply could not continue to fund the life-saving research projects.  So thank you once again for supporting our Wear It Pink campaign this year, and Being PART OF THE CURE for Breast Cancer.

Best Wishes

Lorraine

Christmas Cards

Well I have finally managed to get some Christmas cards made for my Mum and thought I would share them. I still have my own to make but they are a work in progress. Do you think we could postpone Christmas for a few weeks so I could catch up?

I have used the stunning Christmas papers made in-house, holographic card, Dreamweaver metallic gold paste & stencil, all available in the shop. Oh and a little glitter, after all it wouldn’t be Christmas without the sparkle.

The other card is made with our pearlescent card and paper, gems (available in the shop) and a few Memory Box dies. This card was inspired by a card  I saw on a blog (sueplayingwithpaper) and just loved the simplicity but elegance of it.

I made the greeting using my foiling machine, which has been lying in my craft room for ages not being used. Love it! I wonder how many other crafters have items in their craft room which was a “must have” but hasn’t been used. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

I would love to see all your Christmas cards, which I’m sure will just be fabulous.

Lorna

The Shelves are Filling Up

I like to have a wander round the shop when I arrive every afternoon to check out any new stock arrivals.  Today’s crafting feast includes a fabulous selection from Hunkdory, two of which are now in my shopping basket – Bygone Times and Dressing Room – ideal for my experimentation with the Steam Punk style.  On the plus side, these designs match our own background papers perfectly!  Also new on the shelves are a range of wood mounted teddy images, suitable for the men in your life, plus clear stamps ranging in style from swirls and flourishes to birthday sentiments.  More goodies are on order and due to hit the shelves soon.

I received a phone call today from one of our customers thanking us for our help and our prompt delivery.  It was lovely to hear from her as we’re always delighted to receive feedback from our customers (lets us know we’re getting it right) and it fairly brightens our day too.
